ALFEN OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH & SAFETY POLICY

This policy reflects our commitment to workplace health and safety and to the physical and emotional well-being of our workers and their families.

 

ALFEN recognizes that good health and safety practice is paramount to the success of our business. We are committed to a policy of proactively managing all aspects of health, safety and welfare through ensuring an integrated approach designated to promote teamwork, planning, training and discipline.

Our policy is based on "Zero Harm & Right First Time", loss prevention and control, with forward planning, communication and support being key to the successful management of occupational health and safety.

Zero Harm is defined as:

  • Zero fatalities

  • Zero permanent disabling injuries

  • Zero injuries to members of the public

  • Zero long term harm to health

Accident Frequency Rate (AFR) of Zero

We will, as a minimum, comply with current applicable occupational health and safety legislation, ALFEN Policy and we will strive to be industry-leading in our approach. Our policies and procedures will be implemented to ensure compliance with the requirements of ISO 45001:2015 and will include measures for continual cost-effective improvement of health and safetyperformance. This ensures health and safety risks are identified, sound systems of work are adopted, and best practice is shared.

 

Effective communication will ensure our health and safety policy and practices permeate to all employees and supply chainpartners. We will endeavor to share best practice both internally and externally. All reasonably practicable steps will be taken to avoid risks to our employees and all others that may be affected.

 

We will assess occupational health risks to our employees and prevent, reduce and control exposure to health risks at work, and shall carry out health surveillance where required.

 

We will set realistic objectives and targets annually, and produce business health and safety plans support these objectives and targets. We are committed to continual improvement through the adoption of innovative techniques and best practices that exceed customer expectations, meet societal needs and achieve safer outcomes.

 

Senior management will demonstrate leadership in health and safety, enabling a consistent and positive culture and behavior to be achieved. Systems will be in place to enable employee, supply chain and stakeholder participation, including effective means of consultation, input and feedback. Emphasis will be placed on building up relationship of trust and partnership in order to achieve the best results.

 

Everyone has a role to play in ensuring that health and safety is effectively managed. Management and supervisory staff are responsible for implementing this policy throughout ALFEN and will ensure that health and safety issues are always given priority in planning and day-to-day supervision of work.

 

All employees and supply chain members are expected to co-operate with ALFEN in carrying out this policy and will ensure that their own work, so far as is reasonably practicable, is carried out with minimum risk to themselves or others. It is the responsibility of every manager and employee in the business to perform his or her job so as to comply with all health and safety requirements, stop if he or she believes what they are doing will cause an accident, incident or poses harm to themselves or others and to look out for health and safety improvement opportunities. The Company will make arrangements to maximize the opportunity to share best practices both internally and externally.

ALFEN will ensure that such adequate and competent resources, facilities, finances, information, instruction, training and supervision are provided as is necessary to maintain the health, safety and welfare of all its employees and others who may be affected at their workplace or as a consequence of their work.

The Board of Directors have equal responsibility for the successful implementation of the health, safety and welfare policy. The Board of Directors in turn authorized the Project Director to ensure that adequate information is available to the Board to facilitate further development and improvement of this policy.

 

This policy will be brought to the attention of all employees and persons working on behalf of the company. It will also be freely available to the general public, and any 3rd party. It is the responsibility of the Head of HSE to ensure the policy is reviewed at least annually and amended as necessary.
